His story
John D. Smallwood (some reports add "Jr.") was, in the Sheriff's Office's words, well known in the Hubert community.
On Jan. 17, 2010, he was found shot to death at his home on Smallwood Road. Many people have come forward to help over the years, but the Sheriff's Office says that without new leads the case lacks the evidence it needs to move forward.
In 2017 his family put up a reward through Crime Stoppers. The amount, $1,600.25, included a quarter given by a child.
